Hi there, and welcome to this website. I go by the name G. J. Hocking. I suppose I should describe myself as a part-time writer, considering that I am a Bible College student and an Evangelist.
Even so, in my spare time, I have undertaken the enormous effort of compiling several books on the impact of evangelical influence throughout history.
- The Pentecostal Paradox is published by Wipf and Stock and is available through major retailers, including Amazon, Google Books. Kurt Jurgensmeier penned the book’s forward, and this in itself is a gem well worth reading.
- My second book is The Twenty Revivals of the Twentieth Century. It details twenty religious revivals within one century.
- The most recent book, Team Trump and the Evangelical White House, discusses the impact of evangelicals on the White House during the past few decades.
Here’s an overview of the books:
The Pentecostal Paradox explores a movement, which is touted as the fastest-growing religion in contemporary history. This book looks at the Pentecostals’ growth, as well as the movement’s claims of restored Charismatic phenomena.
In this timely work, G. J Hocking explores this movement in the light of Scripture, church history, and contemporary eyewitness accounts.
Read along as the author takes you on a fascinating journey, weaving together a definitive history of the Pentecostal movement. Each chapter reveals how the Pentecostal phenomenon emerged, providing the reader with a practical understanding of how Pentecostalism has developed so rapidly throughout the last century or so.
Published by Wipf and Stock, the book is available from the publisher or follow the Amazon link below. You can get The Pentecostal Paradox in three Formats: Kindle Paperback and Hardcover.
Twenty Revivals of the Twentieth Century details Twenty religious Revivals during the Twentieth Century. This book on Church Revival History by G. J. Hocking shows how many countries experienced a religious revival during the 20th century occurring in various parts of the world. Read about revivals sweeping from across Asia to Australia, through America, and throughout the European continent, all within the space of one century.
Great revivals covered in this book also include China, India, the former Soviet Union, and the United States, when America felt the flame of true religious revival.
The thing that surprised me most, though, when writing this book, was that the first flames of worldwide revival were the prayer circles that originated in Australia. Most, if not all, of the revivals detailed in this book took their cue from these praying groups in Melbourne. For example, Pandita Ramabai, in 1905, sent her daughter from India to Australia. Why? To learn about the prayer circles. Before long, India experienced a revival similar to that of the Welsh Revival of 1904.
There are very few books today that go into such depth as The Twenty Revivals of the Twentieth Century does. So, if you want to learn about some unknown revival activity in the church, why not look at this book, it may change the way you think and pray about worldwide revival in the church.

Team Trump and the Evangelical White House details little-known facts about faith in the White House. Christianity has always played a major role in Washington from the time of George Washington, the 1st President of the United States (1789 to 1797), who said, “It is impossible to rightly govern in the world without God and the Bible.” The 2nd U.S. President John Adams echoed this thought, maintaining, “I consider a decent respect for Christianity among the best recommendations for public service.” Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President believed that it was “the duty of nations as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God.”
Throughout Team Trump and the Evangelical White House, the reader will see how President after President has energized evangelicals throughout the ages. This book focuses on presidents from the Reagan-era up until the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, who has had a relationship with evangelicals, which goes back over two decades.
In short, Team Trump and the Evangelical White House looks at how the White House was won, and by God’s grace, may once again become a place where the White House welcome mat is once again out to evangelicals.
